A computer game is a great way to pass the time. There are many played on the computer including arcade, board, fighting, multiplayer, puzzle, racing, shooting, sports, and tower defense. Some computer games are very hard and some others are super easy.
Tower defense games normally take a lot of strategy and time to get to the higher levels. Bloons, for example, the first couple of rounds are there to help you gain money. After you gain money you have to use strategy and buy the right towers and place them in the right places. It takes a lot of skill to beat a computer game like bloons at easy even, because so many bloons come out and they get stronger as the rounds go by.
Good computer game writing is mostly found in two major genres of games. Role playing games and first person shooter games. However, it wasn’t always the case! FPS games were once only considered great for their engine and available weapons. However the Half Life series and Deus Ex changed all of that. When I look back at my (too many) years of gaming experience all of the games I can remember had great writing. Well, there’s a reason for this:
The badly written ones weren’t worth remembering!
I had to actually go through my collection of loose game discs to find the ones I’d forgotten. These include some pretty big name games, starting with “Black and White” by Lionhead. This is a good example of where they were far too interested in the engine and game mechanics to work on a story that really engaged the player. There was far too much emphasis on the controls and the belief system used to influence the world, and I felt I was merely watching a game rather than being part of its story.
Another example of bad story telling and computer game writing in general, has to be “Doom3″.
The invention of the computer could at first been geared toward serious things such as performance of complicated calculations, or increasing the amount of work that might be done during a period of time. Nevertheless, as time went by, one important thing that came up thanks to the development of the computer is the game. This past time activity has now turned into a billion dollar industry, just showing how much of a following that it has gained.
