Information technology is actually a broad term which encompasses a broad scope of the technology that we have today. Information technology refers to the way we send and receive all sorts of information. Communication technology and information technology if combined may bring good results. One example is the internet wherein the main purpose of the internet is to provide an efficient platform of communication among people.

Information technology plays an important role in the development of the society. It is through information technology that we are now able to create solutions to our day to day problems. Information technology also helps companies in making their processes more efficient. In companies, instead of using file cabinets to store data, they just use computers and store the information that they need in what we call server.

This server acts as a repository of all the information that the company needs which can only be accessed through the use of computers and computers are a product of Information technology.

In healthcare field, information technology has also become more important especially in the development of new medicines which will help the patients cure their illnesses. Information technology can also be seen on different laboratory equipment needed in the healthcare industry. The tools that they use in most of their processes are a product of information technology.

If you are using a desktop computer, you may already know that there isn’t any single part known as a “computer”. A computer is a system of several parts working together. The physical parts which you could see and touch are jointly known as hardware. There are some computer hardware parts which collectively form a computer.

Computer Hardware Parts:

System Unit

The system unit is the heart of a computer system. Generally, it’s a rectangular box placed on or beneath your desk. There are several electronic components which process information inside this box. The most vital of these components is the central processing unit (CPU), or microprocessor, which acts as the brain of your computer.

Another component is the RAM or the random access memory which temporarily stores data that the CPU uses while the computer is on. When the computer is turned off, the information stored in RAM gets erased.

Hard Disk Drive

Your computer’s hard disk drive stores data on a hard disk, a firm plate or stack of plates with a magnetic surface.  The hard disks normally serve as your computer’s primary means of storage, holding almost all of your programs and files as it can hold enormous amounts of information. The hard disk is usually located inside the system unit.

Input and output devices and the central processing unit, commonly known as the CPU are the main components of the computer hardware. The input devices sent the data received in binary form to the CPU where it’s processed and either stored in a storage device such as hard disk or sent to the output devices for exhibit for further processing.

Inside World of a Computer Hardware
A puzzling collection of data cables and power cords would be visible inside the computer hardware, but you must be able to see some of the most important and widely known parts such as the following:
• System boards or the mother board consisting of the CPU and the accompanying microchip, a coprocessor, system clock, random access memory, power supply connections, jumpers and dip switches and ports. The system board is the most intricate part of the computer hardware where most of the activity takes place. It’s very much like the brain with which all the devices in the computer need to communicate somehow. A system board manages the performance of all other devices which are connected to it, either internally or externally.
